Amazon India Creates Over 1.60 Lakh Temporary Jobs Ahead of Festive Season

Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1.60 lakh temporary jobs across the country ahead of the festive season. These opportunities have been generated within the company’s operations network—spanning the entire country—to support its e-commerce and quick-commerce businesses.

According to the company, these roles encompass both direct and indirect employment and will be available in 400 cities across the nation. The locations include major metropolitan areas as well as Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities such as Varanasi, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ghaziabad, Ranchi, Salem, and Gorakhpur.

Opportunities for Thousands of Women and Persons with Disabilities

Amazon has also created employment opportunities for thousands of women and persons with disabilities within its operations network. These new associates will join the company’s existing nationwide network to help meet the surge in demand during the festive season.

Their responsibilities will include picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders. The company stated that, as part of festive season preparations, the majority of these associates have already been onboarded and are undergoing necessary training.

Benefits Provided to Temporary Associates

According to Amazon, these temporary associates will enjoy the same safety, welfare, and benefit programs as the company’s other associates. These include access to a safe, collaborative, and inclusive workspace, as well as security, financial protection, and social security measures.

Through the company’s ‘Samriddhi’ program, associates joining the operations network ahead of the festive season will also be assisted in enrolling on the e-Shram portal and accessing other government welfare and social security schemes. Amazon supports 1.7 million sellers

Amazon India has an extensive nationwide fulfillment and delivery network that helps over 1.7 million sellers deliver their products to customers across the country.

Currently, the company has:

• Fulfillment centers across 15 states.
• Over 43 million cubic feet of storage space for sellers’ inventory within these centers.
• Sortation centers across 19 states.
• A network of approximately 2,000 Amazon-operated and partner delivery stations.
• Around 28,000 hub delivery partners.
• Additionally, thousands of Amazon Flex partners are also part of the delivery network.
• Amazon operations employees (associates) receive social security benefits.
