Tesla installs first Supercharger station in India, charging starts at Rs 14
Tesla has installed its first Supercharger station in India and it has been installed at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. This step is the second major step in the Silicon Valley-based company’s EV infrastructure strategy in India, which started a few weeks ago with the company’s first showroom in Mumbai. This news related to Supercharger is considered to be the biggest EV launch of July-August.
This charging station of Tesla has four V4 Supercharging stalls that can do DC fast charging at a speed of 250kW and also has four unlimited 11kW AC (destination) chargers. The Supercharger rate is Rs 24 per kWh, while AC charging is available at Rs 14 per kWh. Tesla says that this DC Supercharge on a Model Y can add about 267 Km of range in 15 minutes, i.e. almost a round trip from Mumbai to Pune.
Charging is controlled entirely from the Tesla app, where users can check charger availability in the app, pre-condition their battery, park and start charging immediately. Payments, status updates and full charging monitoring are done through the app, with no login or payment screen required.
Tesla believes this first Supercharger station is the start of a network that will expand to eight locations across the country, covering Navi Mumbai, Thane, Lower Parel and further into Delhi NCR (Aerocity, Saket, Gurgaon and Noida). Tesla’s website and social media said the network will make inter-city EV travel easier.
Apart from opening an Experience Centre in Mumbai, Tesla aims to expand its charging network and streamline its servicing infrastructure, with a 24,500 sq ft service centre in Kurla West coming soon.
Tesla launched its first Experience Centre in Mumbai BKC on 15 July 2025. There, two variants of the Model Y were deployed – Standard RWD and Long Range RWD, deliveries of which could begin by Q3-Q4 2025.
