World’s Third-Largest Airship Plant to be Built in India: French Company Flying Whales to Expand Heavy-Lift Cargo Project

Following an official meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, Flying Whales and India’s BLP Group have joined forces. The objective of this partnership is to establish India as a global hub for next-generation cargo airship manufacturing.

This agreement marks the first phase of a major industrial initiative. Under this plan, India is set to become Flying Whales’ third global manufacturing hub, following France and Canada. The goal is to rapidly deploy heavy-lift airship technology across the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

India Selected as the Third Global Aerospace Hub

Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Flying Whales and the BLP Group will collaborate to establish an assembly line for the LCA60T cargo airship in India. Tamil Nadu is currently being considered as the potential location for this facility.

This project is expected to generate over 300 high-skilled jobs within the aeronautics sector. It will also provide a significant boost to the country’s aerospace supply chain, thereby further strengthening India’s standing in the field of advanced and sustainable aviation manufacturing.

The facility in India will serve as the third major pillar of Flying Whales’ global operational structure. The first hub, located in France, caters to Europe and Africa; the second, situated in Canada, serves the Americas. Now, the Indian facility will address the specific requirements of the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

Each hub will bear specific responsibilities for production and operations within its respective region, while strictly adhering to all global technical standards.
