Adani Group News: Adani Group Enters New Sector; Launches Subsidiary Company
Adani Power, a leading player in the energy sector, has formed a new step-down subsidiary as it ventures into the nuclear energy sector. The company disclosed this information in an exchange filing.
According to the company, this new unit will be engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity derived from nuclear sources. This move is being viewed as a major initiative aimed at diversifying the Adani Group’s energy portfolio.
Formation of the New Subsidiary
In its exchange filing, Adani Power stated that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Atomic Energy Limited (AAEL), incorporated another wholly-owned subsidiary—Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited (RRAEL)—on April 20, 2026. This new entity will function as a step-down subsidiary.
The Government’s Ambitious Goal
Notably, the Central Government has set a target to achieve a nuclear energy capacity of 100 gigawatts (GW) in the country by the year 2047. To this end, the government has implemented several policy and legislative reforms to encourage greater participation from private sector companies.
A Step Towards Strategic Expansion
This move by Adani Power aligns with India’s clean energy targets. Nuclear energy is regarded as a stable and low-carbon energy source, capable of bolstering energy security and sustainable development in the future. Overall, this initiative by Adani Power is seen as an integral part of the company’s strategy to move beyond traditional thermal power and expand into the nuclear and other clean energy sectors.
