Britain starts investigation on Google and Amazon for fake reviews, will rein in the authority companies related to it

The UK regulator has accused Amazon and Google of doing fake reviews. Along with this, a formal investigation has been started on these. The regulator alleged that both these tech companies have not taken any steps to remove the fake reviews. This is creating confusion among the people. Wrong information is reaching them.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) says that it will take information from these tech firms. It will find out whether these companies are breaking the law. If found so, then adequate action will be taken against them. So that those who buy products from them can be saved from the trap of fake reviews.

CMA team is doing this work since 2020

This step was taken after the revelations in the CMA’s investigation in 2020. In this investigation, the internal systems and processes of many platforms have been identified. So that fake reviews of companies can be controlled.

Amazon is not removing fake reviews

The regulator says that some sellers on Amazon are still making mistakes in the listing of products. Which Amazon’s system has failed to manage. For example, it involves associating positive reviews of another product with your products.

Steps taken for the interests of customers

CMA Chief Executive Andrea Coselli says that our concern is with the millions of customers shopping online. Customers are getting misled by these fake reviews. Seeing these reviews, the money of the customers is wasted.

Similarly, many business organizations give fake 5 star ratings and reviews of their products. Many well-known companies are involved in this. Those who do such work without caring about the law are wrong.
