Duplicate SIM cheated millions of rupees, Vodafone Idea will pay the victim customer, know the whole matter

Despite the strict rules of the central government and the central bank, fraudsters always find some way to cheat. Now the case of online fraud through duplicate sim has come to the fore. The troubles of the debt-ridden telecom company Vodafone Idea are not taking the name of lessening. The IT department of Rajasthan has asked the company to pay Rs 27.5 lakh in case of online fraud through duplicate SIM. This amount includes Rs 2.31 lakh as interest. 

Interest will have to be paid for non-payment in a month; the company has to pay Rs 27.5 lakh to a customer who has been a victim of fraud. Not only this, if Vodafone Idea does not pay it in a month, then 10 percent interest will be charged on it.

Know the whole matter

Actually the telecom company issued a duplicate SIM card to the customer without verifying the documents and through this the fraudster blew 68.5 lakh rupees from the customer’s bank account. According to a report, the company had issued a duplicate SIM to a person named Bhanu Pratap, who was another person. Pratap transferred Rs 68.5 lakh from the customer’s IDBI bank account to his account. However, he later returned Rs 44 lakh to the victim. The balance amount has not been paid yet. Krishna Lal Nain’s Vodafone Idea mobile number stopped working on 25 May 2017. Then he complained to the company store and got a new number. Even after complaining the number was not activated. Then he went to a Vodafone Idea store in Jaipur and the very next day his SIM was activated. But by then, Rs 68.5 lakh had flown from his IDBI account through OTP.
