Micron Technology CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said on Friday at the Semicon India Conference-2023 being held in Gandhinagar in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the company is ready to set up India’s first semiconductor manufacturing plant in Gujarat. This will generate a total of 20,000 jobs in the coming years. These include 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs. Foreign demand will also be met from this plant. This investment is expected to increase manufacturing-employment generation in the chip sector with a boost to investment in other sectors, he said.

Have full faith in Indian talent pool: AMD

Four-five semiconductor plants expected to start in a year: Vaishnav

Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that semiconductor is needed in every sector of the economy. The demand for electronics is increasing. Hence, India is stressing on all key elements from chip design to manufacturing. Four-five chip plants are expected to be set up in a year.
