Africa becomes the new hub of Indian textile exports

Mumbai: Africa has a population of 1.4 billion and is the fifth largest cotton producing country in the world. Currently there is Chinese influence on the textile sector there. But now many countries want to take advantage of the Center for Excellence in Indian Textiles. In such a situation, Indian textile players are increasing the export of machinery to African countries. By exporting yarn and fabric, you can get a chance to set up a production facility in Africa, make finished goods and export them there also. This is what textile industry expert Updeep Singh has to say. Singh says that currently African countries have free trade agreements with EU and America. In such a situation, India can compete in the world by getting access to duty free exports from there. This is the reason why many big players from Raymond have increased business engagement with Africa. In this way, India’s exports can increase by 4-5 billion dollars in the next 4-5 years.

Chairman of ITME Society, Ketan Sanghvi, who is busy preparing for the textile tech and engineering trade fair in Kenya next month, says, ‘Right now very expensive technology comes from EU. In such a situation, there is a good opportunity for India to export good quality machinery at a reasonable price. Not only this, India can dominate the entire value chain through the production facility. Pramod Khosla, Chairman of Khosla Profile, says that more than half of the garments purchased by African retailers are imported from abroad. Most of these are imported from China. However, the way India has increased business engagement with African countries by providing skill development, reasonable prices and latest technology, India is a welcome country for them.
