Balaji started his professional career with the Tata Administrative Service (TAS). In the new profile, he will have the portfolio of Governance, Regulatory, Compliance (GRC) and Corporate Affairs of the company. For his appointment, the post of Group Head has been created for the first time in Air India.

Long experience in telecom sector with Vodafone-Idea

Balaji has worked for almost a decade in the leading companies of the telecom sector – Vodafone and Idea. Balaji will report to Campbell Wilson, Managing Director, Air India. Wilson is also the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company.

As Group Head, P Balaji will also look after the government affairs of Air India and also the legal and ethics related matters. After the appointment of Group Head of Corporate Affairs, CEO Wilson said that his wealth of experience will be extremely beneficial from the perspective of transformation of the company.

After disinvestment, Air India came into the hands of Tata Sons.
