Paytm will buy ONDC related startup Bitsila: Deal may be finalized soon, this will support the company’s ONDC market.

Paytm, which is struggling with difficulties, is going to buy e-commerce startup Bitsila. According to media reports, the deal between Paytm and Bitsila is in the final stages and may be completed soon. Bengaluru-based Bitsila is an Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) startup.

Paytm e-commerce changes its name to Pai Platform

According to the PTI report, Paytm e-commerce has changed its name to Pai platform. The company had applied for name change about three months ago and got approval from the Registrar of Companies on February 8.

According to the notification of the Registrar of Companies, the name of the company has been changed from Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited to Pai Platforms Private Limited with effect from the date of the certificate. The company was originally incorporated under the name of Paytm E-Commerce Private Limited.

Paytm is a buyer app on ONDC

The startup’s role in ONDC as a seller-side app is B2B (Business to Business), as it helps connect small merchants to the network. Bitsila was started in 2020 by Dashratham Bitla and Surya Pokkali. Whereas Paytm is a buyer app on ONDC. With the purchase of Bitsila, Paytm will also reach the seller-side of the network and further strengthen its hold on ONDC.

What is ONDC?

It connects both seller and buyer i.e. customer directly to each other. ONDC is a not for profit company. Many banks like SBI, HDFC are its shareholders.
