SpiceJet: SpiceJet to add three Airbus A320 aircraft to its fleet; Boeing 737 Max also brought back into service

Indian airline SpiceJet is strengthening its fleet and operational capacity. The company has entered into an agreement to induct three Airbus A320 aircraft, which will soon become part of its fleet.

According to an official statement, these three Airbus A320 aircraft will join SpiceJet’s fleet by July 2026. The company has finalized a lease agreement for these planes. Additionally, SpiceJet has successfully brought a Boeing 737 Max aircraft back into service; the aircraft has already commenced commercial flights. This increased capacity will strengthen the airline’s network during peak travel periods and provide greater operational flexibility across both domestic and international routes.

According to the company, these aircraft will help meet rising passenger demand, enhance network flexibility during peak seasons, and bolster operational capacity.

SpiceJet’s Chief Business Officer, Debojo Maharshi, commented on the development, stating that these aircraft would assist in meeting growing passenger demand. They will strengthen operational capacity and enhance network flexibility during peak travel periods. He further added that the company remains focused on expanding its fleet and improving operational readiness.

What preparations has the airline made for the future?

Earlier, in April 2026, a SpiceJet B737-700 aircraft was involved in an incident at Delhi Airport. Its right winglet sustained damage while taxiing, and the left horizontal stabilizer of another airline’s aircraft was also damaged. Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded in Delhi. The company is moving ahead with its growth plans.
