Announcement of over ₹3,200 crore investment in Andhra Pradesh; stock likely to react to the news
Two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has announced an investment of over ₹3,200 crore in Andhra Pradesh and laid the foundation stone for its second Global Parts Centre (GPC) in Tirupati. Under this investment, the company will set up a state-of-the-art Global Parts Centre at a cost exceeding ₹750 crore, which will serve as a key logistics hub for its domestic and international spare parts operations. The company aims to develop Tirupati into a global manufacturing and electric mobility hub, thereby strengthening India’s automobile and electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.
According to the company, its electric vehicles are 100% designed, engineered, and manufactured at the Tirupati plant. Following the new investment, the plant’s annual production capacity is expected to rise to between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units. Additionally, this expansion will create approximately 4,000 direct employment opportunities, aligning with the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and the Andhra Pradesh government’s ‘Swarna Andhra’ vision. Furthermore, the company will provide VIDA electric scooters to female police personnel in the Tirupati district and offer them specialized road safety training, thereby promoting safe mobility.
Speaking on the occasion, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that Hero MotoCorp’s investment reflects confidence in the state’s industry-friendly policies and superior infrastructure. He noted that this project would provide fresh momentum to employment, industrial growth, and the local supply chain in the Rayalaseema region.
Hero MotoCorp Executive Chairman Dr. Pawan Munjal stated that the company aims to contribute to nation-building alongside its business operations. He highlighted that the new Global Parts Centre would further strengthen India’s position in the global supply chain and advance the “Made in India, for India and the World” philosophy.
