Tata Motors-Iveco Deal: Major Success for Tata Motors; Secures Over 89% Stake

Tata Motors has achieved a major breakthrough in its acquisition of the Italian truck manufacturer, Iveco. The takeover offer extended by the company has now become effective, with no remaining conditions. This development will strengthen Tata Motors’ presence in the global market.

Securing a Stake of Over 89%

TML CV Holdings BV, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, has secured shareholder approval for 238.1 million (23.81 crore) shares of Iveco. This brings the company’s stake to 89.42% (excluding treasury shares).

Tata Motors confirmed that all stipulated conditions for the deal have been met. Initially, the offer was contingent upon acquiring at least a 95% stake; however, following a resolution passed at an extraordinary general meeting of Iveco on October 16, this threshold was lowered to 80%. Tata Motors has now surpassed this requirement.

Deal Valuation

Tata Motors initially offered 14.10 euros per Iveco share. On October 9, this offer was increased by 0.30 euros, bringing the price to 14.40 euros per share. The total value of this acquisition offer for Iveco stands at approximately 3.8 billion euros.

This acquisition is significant for Tata Motors, as it will help the company expand its footprint in the international commercial vehicle market. Iveco’s truck and commercial vehicle business will provide Tata Motors with access to new markets and a broader customer base.
