NAFED to Provide Pure Pulses and Flour; Three New Plants to be Set Up in Delhi and Rajasthan

NAFED, a cooperative organization representing the nation’s farmers, is consistently venturing into new areas to boost its revenue and provide consumers with high-quality, pure food products. As part of this initiative, it has begun preparations to establish new plants in Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. These projects have received approval from the NAFED board, and tenders have already been issued for the pulse-processing plant to be set up in Delhi.

Pulse-processing plant to be set up in Najafgarh, Delhi

According to sources, a modern pulse-processing plant is being established in the Ujwa area of Najafgarh, Delhi, at a cost of ₹14 crore. The construction and installation process is expected to take approximately one year, with the plant slated to be fully operational by October next year.

Once functional, this plant will help NAFED reduce external expenses and operational costs, while also ensuring the quality and supply of pulses in line with market demand. The facility is planned to be operated with the support of the cooperative sector.

Two new plants approved for Bhiwadi and Bharatpur in Rajasthan

Expanding its manufacturing footprint, NAFED is set to establish plants at two locations in Rajasthan. In Bharatpur, NAFED is planning its first in-house flour-milling plant, for which the ‘Request for Proposal’ (RFP) process is currently underway. Additionally, a honey-processing unit, along with other food-processing facilities, will be set up on a 7.5-acre site in Bhiwadi. These initiatives will provide consumers with pure, high-quality pulses, flour, and other food items—reminiscent of the quality found in rural villages—while also significantly boosting NAFED’s revenue.

A major leap in the retail sector

To accelerate its business operations, NAFED is opening new retail stores in major cities, including Lucknow, Jaipur, Indore, Guwahati, and Kolkata. Furthermore, ‘dark stores’ are being set up within existing retail outlets to expedite home deliveries facilitated by e-commerce platforms. NAFED’s retail turnover is projected to surge to approximately ₹90 crore in the current financial year, compared to about ₹32 crore in the previous financial year (2025-26).
