Amazon opens Asia’s second-largest office: 12-story campus spanning 1.1 million square feet in Bengaluru; 7,000 people will work there

E-commerce giant Amazon opened its second-largest office in Asia in Kattigenahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Spread across 1.1 million square feet, the 12-story campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The office will house over 7,000 employees across departments such as e-commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services.

The company will invest an additional ₹3.20 lakh crore by 2030

This new Amazon campus is built on approximately 5 acres of land. David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Global Affairs and Legal Officer, stated that India’s pace of technology adoption and enthusiasm for AI is unmatched by any other country in the world.

He said that Amazon has already invested $40 billion (approximately ₹3.60 lakh crore) across all its businesses in India. The company has pledged to invest an additional $35 billion (approximately ₹3.20 lakh crore) by 2030.

Amazon Now will now expand to other countries around the world.

David Zapolsky explained that Amazon Now (Quick Commerce Outlet), designed for India’s fast-paced cities, has been very successful. The company is now expanding this Indian model to markets like the Middle East, North America, Europe, and Latin America.

Minister M.B. Patil said, “Bengaluru has emerged as a global innovation hub.”

Karnataka’s Minister of Heavy and Medium Industries, M.B. Patil, also attended the campus inauguration ceremony. He said that Amazon’s continued investment in Bengaluru demonstrates India’s strengthening as a global technology and innovation hub.

He said that such large campuses not only create jobs but also strengthen the local ecosystem and the digital economy of the country.
