Book Emirates Flights Using Cryptocurrency: Here’s Who Can Access This Facility
Emirates has introduced a cryptocurrency payment option for flight ticket bookings. Eligible UAE residents can now book tickets using digital assets via the airline’s website and mobile app through Crypto.com Pay. Currently, this facility applies only to bookings where payment and settlement are made in the UAE’s local currency, the Dirham (AED).
This feature is part of a partnership established between Emirates and Crypto.com. The two companies had previously agreed to integrate Crypto.com Pay into the airline’s digital payment system, and this integration has now been officially rolled out to customers.
At present, this payment option is available exclusively to UAE residents who hold a Crypto.com account. Customers can select Crypto.com Pay as their payment method while booking flights on the official Emirates website (emirates.com) or the Emirates App. They must then approve the transaction within the Crypto.com app. Once the payment is complete, the booking confirmation and e-ticket will be issued immediately.
Customers booking via the website will see a QR code on the payment page, which must be scanned using the Crypto.com app to confirm the payment. Meanwhile, users booking through the mobile app will be redirected to the Crypto.com app; after approving the payment there, they will be returned to the Emirates App.
According to Emirates, this new facility supports the Dubai government’s ‘Dubai Cashless Strategy.’ This strategy is part of the ‘D33 Economic Agenda,’ which aims to digitize 90 percent of financial transactions across the public and private sectors by the end of 2026.
The company stated that this payment system is operated through Crypto.com’s Dubai unit. This unit is also the first Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) to obtain a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license from the Central Bank of the UAE.
