Reliance will also enter the world of gaming, joins hands with BLAST for E-Sports business

Reliance, the company of India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, is soon going to enter the world of video games. Reliance’s wholly-owned subsidiary Rise Worldwide will form a joint venture for e-sports business in India. For this, Rise Worldwide has entered into a strategic partnership with Blast E-Sports. According to a statement from Reliance Industries, Reliance and Blast will partner to develop leading intellectual property (IP) in the gaming market in India. Blast’s global IP will be introduced in the Indian market for fans, players and brands.

Blast is one of the largest competition organizers in the world

Blast, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Denmark-based APS, is one of the largest competition organizers in the world. According to the statement, “The goal of the joint venture is to attract top level events in the future.” Robbie Doek, CEO of Blast, said about this partnership, “Partnering with Reliance, a company with amazing expertise in India and tremendous reach in every corner of the country, has given us a great opportunity to take the regional e-sports scene to new heights.”

18 percent of the world’s gamers are in India

Reliance said in its statement, “India is the fastest growing gaming market, with a tremendous base of more than ~600 million (18% of total gamers globally). India’s gaming market is projected to grow at a CAGR of ~19% to reach US$9.2 billion by 2029, up from US$3.8 billion in 2024. The Government of India has officially recognised e-sports in the country by declaring it as part of the “Multi-Sports Event” category.”

Jio will also play an important role in this business of Reliance

Reliance Sports chief Devang Bhimjyani said on the partnership with Blast, “With this joint venture, Reliance Industries will take its interest in sports to e-sports. It will leverage Rise’s capabilities for marketing and promotion of game events and teams, while Jio will provide its distribution and technology expertise.”
