Come to office or lose your job…this big company gave ultimatum to its employees

New Delhi: The impact of the Corona epidemic has reduced but it has made people addicted to working from home. The situation has become such that even after repeated warnings from the companies, employees are not coming to office. America’s leading tech company IBM has told its managers that if they do not come to office, they may lose their jobs. The company said in a statement that managers will have to relocate themselves near an office as soon as possible, otherwise they may lose their jobs. They will have to be at an office or client location for at least three days a week.

IBM sent an internal memo to its employees on January 16. It says that from August all employees will have to relocate themselves closer to an office of the company. Employees engaged in illness or military service have been kept away from this. The company says it will use built-in data to track the attendance of each employee. According to the memo, the employee must live within 50 miles of an IBM office or client location. Employees who do not comply may have to leave IBM.

Strictness in rules

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna has advocated for in-person work several times. He says that the promotion of employees who choose to work from home may be affected. In November last year, the company had asked its infrastructure business employees to be present at the company location three days a week. In the last one year, many companies have made strict policies to call their employees to office. Especially in the tech sector, the rules have been made strict. Companies like Amazon and AT&T have asked their employees to shift closer to their office locations.
